Customer stories
We think our recycled plastic furniture quality speaks for itself, but don’t just take our word for it – our customers regularly share stories with us about their purchases, and this page highlights some of our favourites. If you’d like to share your own story and photos with us, send us an email at info@tdp.co.uk

Dear Nicola and everyone else who helped/communicated with me over with this – Anne, Michelle, Lindsey and Rob,
I just wanted to say a big THANK YOU for the bench and all the organisation around delivery. You were all so patient and helpful at every stage. The delivery person was great and so helpful too.
We couldn’t be more happy with the bench and the plaque – it looks perfect as the replacement for the bench which had been there for 37 years. Let’s hope it might outlast that one – it seems very resilient and less likely to be washed out to sea (that happened, 5 years ago, to the last one but it was found 60 miles up the coast and returned).
Here are a couple of pictures – I imagine you don’t always see your benches in their destinations spots…
Many thanks again,
Emily
Rob from TDP – Many thanks, the production team love to see our benches in their final location, and Port Isaac is a wonderful place.

Good morning TDP
I just wanted to say a massive thank you for all you did to get my wife’s memorial bench to me in super fast time and amazing customer service.
We raised £2400 on the day for our local cancer charity and thank you all for playing your part, my daughter, son and I are truly grateful.
Kind regards

Hi Nicola,
I just want to thank you firstly for the bench, which is exactly what I was looking for, and secondly for the efficient way you dealt with the delivery.
It was great to hear from you direct to let me know when it was coming. The delivery driver did exactly as you asked, and managed to get his vehicle down an awkward lane with parked cars, and then into where we could easily unwrap it and place it in position. Thank you so much for a satisfying experience. People were sitting eating lunch there today

Thought you might like to see the benches we purchased recently actually in situ.
We are very pleased with the Dale benches and they make a nice colourful addition to the Parish

Barwick in Elmet & Scholes Parish Council

Just wanted to let you know that we are absolutely delighted with our recent purchase of Dale benches and Tea for Two sets.
We were looking for something low maintenance, sturdy and stylish for the gardens at our holiday rental accommodation and these are perfect.
Excellent customer service who kept us informed of the order progress. Items were well wrapped/packaged when delivered on pallets.
Very comfortable to sit on easy to clean.
Outside dining in style

For their holiday let, Honey Cottage, Andrew and Fiona wanted a dining set that would be easy to maintain and be ethically manufactured in the UK. TDP’s large Wheatcroft dining set fitted the bill nicely as it is made from recycled plastic waste.
The table set is also enhanced with the Honey Cottage logo engraved on the table and all six chairs.
Honey Cottage has a colourful history, starting life as a barn with a hayloft, becoming the village garage with an inspection pit under what is now the lounge floor, later a GP’s surgery and more recently a family home. Now, Honey Cottage has been fully refurbished to create a warm and cosy cottage with a light airy feel – a real home from home! All rooms overlook the garden and fields beyond whilst the oil fired central heating gives a warm welcome.

Memories of Blackberry picking

Peter very kindly said we could share this story with you. Peter ordered a Riber bench as a memorial to his Mother along with one of our photo plaques.
The bench was installed in a lovely spot with happy memories for the whole family.
Peter’s kind words resonated with our team and we are glad we could help make what is always a difficult time a bit easier.

Our planters from yourselves have been in for a year now and are looking great. We swapped to your Longwood’s like for like with our old wooden Planters and they’ve worked a treat.
They really work on the estate and in the area down the end are a great solution to parking as we have added fluorescent strips along the top of the planters. Our gardeners have done a great job of planting evergreen hedges in them so they’re looking great throughout the year.

I just wanted to thank you for the bird feeding station that you made and supplied for me recently.
The bird feeding station looks superb and has been built to a high specification by talented craftsmen. The fact that it is made from recycled plastic means that it is rot proof but it also doesn’t deter in appearance from looking like real wood. It takes pride of place in my garden and is visited continually by a vast range of wild birds.
Please pass my thanks on to the team that made the feeding station for me. I would certainly recommend this product to friends and family. Thanks once again.
Kindest Regards, David.

Huge thank you- bench delivered today and positioned on my chosen site on golf course- 15th tee- what a view!
I will be spending many moments sitting here, and so will our daughters. I’m thrilled to bits with it – and so happy it won’t start looking neglected like wooden benches too- this bench deserves all the love.
I cant thank you enough for your support during the ordering process
Wishing you all a peaceful Christmas
Lisa
Good Morning Lisa,
That’s great news and the view is beautiful 😊
I hope you will all have many happy moments sat there taking in that stunning view (dodging golf balls!)
I’m also glad we could help and we love to see where our benches find a home.
Kym, TDP

Hi Michelle I just want to say thank you for my Mum and Dads memorial bench that came this morning.
Your team of craftsmen have done a fantastic job and I was overcome with emotion when I unpacked it.
The courier was supposed to come yesterday but they rang to say they couldn’t make it so I was a bit disappointed. But on seeing it today, I am one happy lady. So thank you again and all your team for a wonderful piece of work.
Storytelling Chair

Oliver said, “This area means the world to us! We will be planting trees around the area and providing a box of stories once the weather improves.”
TDP were so pleased to have been chosen to bring this to life, and our production team took great pride and pleasure in being involved, and seeing the furniture in place.

I just wanted to get in touch to say the biggest THANK YOU from the bottom of our hearts!
The story telling area was installed yesterday and it is just perfect!
You have been amazing all the way through and your support with the design, production etc has been fantastic!
Please pass on our thanks to everyone at TDP that has been involved in any way!
Oliver

Hi Rob,
Just returned from holiday in the wilds of the northern Pennines, gale force winds, storms aplenty. Continuous rain.
…………but at least the garden furniture survived. Never moved an inch!
Steve
Note: Steve is our health and safety consultant and their holiday cottage just happened to have one of our Cromford Hope dining sets in the garden!

Hi Michelle
Just wanted to send a big Thank you to everyone involved in the making and for the smooth delivery of our bench.
It has now been installed, and although it was an emotional day, we are so pleased to have a beautiful place and a comfortable seat to remember our loved one.
I thought you would like to see some photos of your bench in it’s resting place.
Once again cannot thank you all enough in this matter
Kind regards
Kathy

Hello Michelle,
The seat has been safely delivered & I am delighted with it. Many thanks to you all
Lilian

Good morning
We received delivery of our Wirksworth seat this morning and our Memorial Bench for the Churchyard. We are really pleased with them. Thank you for all the information and communication we have received. We would also like to thank the two people who delivered them. They were very friendly and extremely helpful, nothing was too much trouble. Please pass on our thanks.

Michelle – A very big thank-you for all your care in ensuring the bench arrived safely at St Non’s, St Davids! It all went like clockwork. down to the minute of predicted arrival and the expected design and appearance of the bench. It was easily secured in place with the anchor kit and looks very good. The family is delighted with our purchase and it makes a very fitting memorial for my husband, set in a perfect location on the Pembrokeshire coast.
The delivery driver was courteous and helpful.
Again, many thanks. I think I may have given others ideas for using your firm for a memorial bench!

Hi Anne,
Many thanks for the latest bench out of the many you have delivered to Hinderwell Parish Council over the years.
This one is situated at the top of the hill going down to Staithes harbour.

I gofio BRIAN DAVIES 1941 – 2020 A Champion of Open Rugby

After former Llanelli , Cardiff and Wales rugby legend Brian Davies sadly passed away in September 2020, Enid his wife , Kate his daughter and the family wanted him to be remembered at his last club – the village team at Pentyrch . Whilst searching for a suitable memorial , Enid came across our website and loved the idea of a bench made from Recycled Plastic that would last for many years , and could be engraved with a special bi- lingual message in Welsh and English that summed up his contribution and his philosophy on rugby at all levels . He is described as a Champion of Open rugby on that engraving , Outstanding for Wales – Inspirational for Pentyrch. And that was certainly true . Young players at the club could not believe that they now had a Welsh International playing alongside them . “ When Brian arrived at Pentyrch “ said his great friend , former team mate , and now President of Clwb Rygbi Pentyrch RFC ,Huw Llywelyn Davies “ training was no more than a few laps around the field , practising some moves for backs and forwards , and back into the bar for a pint or two ! But Brian transformed the way we trained and played at the club, and brought about a big change in attitude and style of play “
Brian’s career started at Stradey Park Llanelli near his home village of Llangennech. He then went on to represent Cardiff , Newbridge and Neath on the first class circuit before stepping down to help the village sides at Pontyclun initially and then Pentyrch . It’s still a mystery to many rugby supporters that he only won three caps for Wales , and each one was special in different ways . The first was the game against Ireland in 1962 that had been held over from March to November because of the “ smallpox “ epidemic . the second against England in 1963 – a game that should never have been played as the pitch at Cardiff Arms Park was absolutely frozen – incidentally the last time that Wales lost at home to England for 28 years ! And the third – the infamous game of 111 line outs at Murrayfield when Welsh captain Clive Rowlands kicked the ball all afternoon . Brian hardly touched the ball throughout the game , but for some mystifying reason was then dropped and never selected again . A travesty !
But rugby was by no means Brian’s only contribution to the community around Creigiau and Pentyrch . He was so very influential in so many different field .In fact he remained a well known figure in the rugby world even after his retirement as an expert analyst of the game – the second voice in commentary on both radio and television Professionally he was a highly respected lecturer in civil engineering at Glamorgan Polytechnic in Pontypridd . Socially his great sense of humour and lovely, warm way of connecting with an audience made him the ideal compere for almost fifty years in concerts with the local choir Cantorion Creigiau , and some of his sketches – often with Enid – are still legendary in the choir and with members of the local Welsh Society “Clwb y Dwrlyn” And in later life he found a new passion for art and painting. He started by painting various landscapes and then progressed into portraits – eventually publishing a book which featured portraits of many prominent people in Wales and beyond – and all for a good cause that was very close to his heart – Cystic Fibrosis . Over the years the proceeds from his painting contributed way over £20,000 to the charity

Yes , the bench at Parc y Dwrlyn overlooking the rugby and cricket fields is a fitting tribute to a very special person ; everyone’s friend , so sorely missed and so highly respected by all . And as for the memorial, Enid has made it known that she is delighted and very proud of Brian’s beautiful , black bench !

We would like to thank you all for your time and patience with regards to the Peak bench that is now sited on the high peak trail under Black Rocks
It was nice to have a chat with Luke & Aaron the TDP delivery lads and we are very thrilled with the outcome. Special thanks to Kerri for helping us choose in the first instance.
Regards Janet & Gillian

Dedication of a 2m Peak Bench at RAF Scampton Heritage Centre

Jill contacted us back in November 2020 for a memorial bench to be sited at RAF Scampton Heritage Centre and with so many people involved it took a while to sort out the engraving, plaque and permissions but the 2m Peak bench was eventually sited. Jill and lots of helpers had a great weekend and all our members were totally thrilled with the bench. We decided eventually to place it on hardstanding rather than the grass. Our Association has formed a friendship with the Swansea Chapter of Harley Davidson bikers (long story) and 10 of them drove up to join us for our reunion & bench installation – they are a super bunch of boys, mostly ex-servicemen and they were so very generous and particularly helpful with the placing of the bench as you will see from the enclosed photos.
We are all now hoping and praying that although Scampton as a base is being sold off to developers towards the end of 2022, that the Heritage Centre will remain. Everyone is working tirelessly to try to ensure that it does. However, if the worst does happen, we will relocate the bench to the IBCC in Lincoln so all will not be lost/wasted.

Hi Kym
Just a quickie to let you know that our bench is now installed and dedicated at RAF Scampton Heritage Centre. I just wanted to thank you and all your staff for the wonderful job you made of it and for your efficiency, assistance and super service.
Once again, many thanks for all your hard work and given any opportunity, I shall certainly recommend your company in the future.
Very kind regards and best wishes to you all.
Jill

The old wooden picnic tables and planter outside Cromford Fish Bar in Derbyshire had seen better days so they replaced them with two Springbanks and a Longwood planter.
“They are a vast improvement and look very stylish in black”, said Mr Gould, the owner.

We had a local gathering to unveil the Dale Benches and Logwood planters which are now installed. Very pleased.

Engraved with Celtic text a Dale & Planter turn heads

Andrew contacted us in December 2020. He was looking for a bench with a planter attached to commemorate his parents. Andrew had permission to site the bench in a stunning location at Portmahomack which was their childhood holiday place. Portmahomack is a small fishing village in Easter Ross, Scotland. It is situated in the Tarbat Peninsula.
We made a bespoke planter to connect to the Dale bench and both were engraved in English and Celtic text.

Delivered a while ago now the bench and planter are fantastic, but with covid restrictions we have only just set up our bench.
We cannot thank you enough for such a sterling job on something that was so personalised and specific.
Position is Dolphin View Portmahomack overlooking Dornoch Firth
Kind regards
Andrew

Very pleased with the quality and finish of the Dale memorial bench. Placing it at the bowling club, the groundsman is happy as it doesn’t need annual upkeep. Would certainly recommend to others.
Regards and thanks
Sue

Hi Kerri, just wanted to say a big thank you for getting the chair delivered to us yesterday, greatly appreciated, even had time to get it together and sited, my mum can now sun herself while she house sits for us, many thanks, Matt

Hello Kym, I just wanted to say thank you for the Wirksworth table.
I honestly had no idea how good and solid it was going to be when I ordered it. I shall be sheltering under it next time we have an air raid!
Amazing, thank you 😊😊😊
Happy Earth Day

We were contacted back in February by Ed at Fron Isaf Cottages as he wanted to replace a few items of outdoor wooden furniture that had seen better days. Ed had researched manufacturers and was keen to order products that would be environmentally friendly, fit for purpose and be sympathetic to the wonderful landscape surrounding the cottages. TDP fitted all the criteria and as a British manufacturer they also helped reduce the carbon footprint for the furniture.
Fron Isaf cottages are three cottages situated between the north and south Pembrokeshire Coastlines and surrounded by beautiful green countryside. These four and five star cottages sleep two, three, and eight people, and can be hired separately or together for larger groups. All three cottages have sole use of the indoor heated swimming pool and sauna, along with their own private outdoor seating areas and communal garden with views over the Preseli Hills.
The new furniture was delivered in March and as lockdown eases are already being enjoyed by guests at this picturesque corner of the UK.
For more information on this West Wales Escape visit www.westwalesescapes.com

Here at Fron Isaf we are always looking for more ways to be kinder to the earth. Recently, we have replaced some rotten benches with these 100% recycled plastic ones from TDP in Wirksworth, Derbyshire. By doing this, we have helped to reduce the amount of plastic going to landfill. Than you TDP.

Hello Kym, I just wanted to say thank you for the table.
I honestly had no idea how good and solid it was going to be when I ordered it. I shall be sheltering under it next time we have an air raid!
Amazing, thank you
M Aust

A splash of colour for Harelaw Cottages

Built in 1593 in the reign of Elizabeth 1, Harelaw House is set amongst the many castle and fortifications that are a testament to those wild and dangerous times.
To make post lockdown opening more enjoyable for guests to enjoy the wonderful walks around the house Helen ordered three of TDP’s colourful Wirksworth Seats.
As well as the stunning landscapes sounding Harelaw, wildlife is in abundance around the cottages.
So one way to try out our Wirksworth seat is too book a cottage and get away for a few days.
For more information on Harelaw House visit http://www.harelaw.org/

We have some new, amazing and very colourful, recycled plastic benches in the garden at Harelaw. They are from TDP a British company based in Derbyshire. They are very heavy and really well made, from 100% UK plastic waste (the main reason I chose them). I love them and hope our guests will too.

This 2m Peak Seat was donated to the local community by Lincolnshire Co-Operative Society.
Hi Ellen
Thanks again for organising this beautiful bench!
Residents of Sutton on Trent were missing somewhere to sit after their bench was no longer fit for use. Your bench has been installed and we were waiting for a sunny day to get some photos! It has been gratefully received by the community and is very well used. Attached are some photos.
Thanks again

We hope that mums, dads and carers can enjoy this table on their way to and from school, especially as we have such lovely sunshine at present with lockdown coming to an end, where life is getting a whole lot better. The team are thrilled with the quality of the table. The Edward Bear Praise and Play group, based at St Oswald church in Ashbourne, wish to acknowledge their gratitude to all those at TDP Ltd in Wirksworth.
Light at the end of the tunnel

With the “outside rule of 6” set to return in late March, we were desperate for a family get together. It was clear our aged timber furniture wasn’t fit to host visitors, so it went to the tip and we needed to source some new kit. We scoured the web, lots of options, none of which really “floated our boat”. Then we stumbled across TDP, advertising some lovely looking, maintenance free products, made from recycled plastic.
Digging a little deeper, I was a little disappointed to find that there wasn’t anything that perfectly suited our requirements but I was “hooked” on the concept, so decided to use their “contact us” page and I’m really glad I did. It was Saturday night when I sent my first mail and on Sunday Rob responded to my message. From that moment on, I knew we’d be doing business. After a quick flurry of emails and a couple of phone calls, we were all set, with the TDP production team proposing a bespoke, 6 seater table and chair set.
Throughout this process, everyone I spoke to at TDP were absolutely first class, seemingly, some of the most helpful folk on the planet, an absolute delight to deal with.
My furniture arrived today, just as they said it would. So that’s the people, now onto the product:
Having spent some 43 years working as a Manufacturing Engineer in the aircraft manufacturing industry, I’m a bit of a stickler for quality, I know exactly what a “good” should look like and I’m all too often left a little disappointed. But not in this case.
This kit is very good, in fact it’s absolutely first class. It’s chunky, it’s weighty, it’s a modern rustic design, which has a lovely feel to it, that really appeals. Its very well put together, with the individual component parts fitting perfectly together, with no sharp edges. It arrived fully assembled from TDP’s factory, using quality fixtures and fittings and I’ve absolutely no doubts, that it’ll still be going strong long after I’m gone.
One very satisfied customer. Many thanks to all at TDP.

Just a quick note to let you know our garden furniture arrived safe and sound late this morning. We think it’s fantastic and we’re really impressed with the product, the concept and the service received, throughout our interaction with everyone at TDP.
We’ve got the patio heater on order, so as of the 29th, we’ll be all set for a few rowdy nights with the family and friends.
Please extend our thanks to the rest of the team at TDP, who’s efforts are truly appreciated.

Thank you from the Rotary Club of Bideford…
We absolutely LOVE these rainbow benches (even in the rain!)
We need to encourage every hospital in the country to have one!
These ones are sited at the North Devon District hospital for everyone to enjoy.

The chairs & table go great with our awning. They are fabulous and very comfortable.
Thank you
Eat out safely at Oakfield Farm Shop

TDP were pleased to get a showroom visit from the owners of a fantastic Derbyshire Farm Shop & Cafe recently.
Given the go ahead under the government guidelines to re-open their cafe, new chairs, tables, benches and picnic tables were required to accommodate customers outside, to help maintain social distancing.
The owner of Oakfield Farm Shop, Mr & Mrs Wint, were looking for something long lasting and robust to stand the test of time in the cafe courtyard, and very importantly something easy to clean. Our picnic tables and dining sets fitted the bill nicely for all their requirements.
To make the outdoor space look even more inviting, they chose colours that matched their corporate identity as well as brightly coloured mixes.
Each table was also engraved with their company logo, which finished off the look nicely.
Being made from dense recycled plastic waste, the furniture is very robust. Completely weather and waterproof, it can be left out all year without rotting or blowing over. They require no painting or staining and can be quickly wiped down or simply power washed for a more thorough clean.
There is no swelling and shrinkage during changes in the climate, so the fixings stay in place and make our seats and benches safe to sit on for years to come.

From the moment we were greeted in the showroom by Alison we were convinced we had chosen the right company.
From the informative and inspirational presentation to the quality of the furniture, especially being delivered on time for our re-opening after Covid-19 lock down we were so impressed with the TDP team.

Our black & lilac Dale bench in-situ. Thank you

To help improve the local community we (Penrith Action for Community Transition) contacted TDP back in November 2019 to quote for a few items from their range of recycled plastic furniture.
After funding approval in March this year we placed the order. TDP kindly held the order for the last 5 months as Covid-19 meant we had to wait before we could site the furniture, so It was not until this month that we finally got to see it all.
We are all so pleased and it now appears in a new video that Penrith in Bloom have just made.

I have just realised that we didn’t send you photos of the fabulous bench! I have chosen the best photos from the ones we took the day it arrived but Lucas the cat had decided that he needed in on the action and so he is in a lot of the photos

Thank you all for your wonderful willingness to help us in every way possible, we will recommend you to everyone we meet. The delivery driver was lovely and really helpful. We were just disappointed that Michelle wasn’t delivered too as she has been a pleasure to deal with. We had some help from a couple of local university students when the delivery arrived, to take the chairs and bird table off the pallet and site them in the garden for us.

Seat arrived today, just to say a massive thanks to everyone involved, I am really pleased with it, really well made and packaged well.,and yes is pretty heavy
It should last a lifetime!love the colours as well.

Nicola, thank you for the receipt for the recycled plastic planks I picked up today. May I just add that I have been extremely impressed with the customer service provided by TDP. When I initially made enquiries, and my order was not particularly large, I found the ordering and communication very easy and the staff very helpful which unfortunately is not always the case these days. On picking up the items from your premises everyone was very supportive in particular the ‘lads’ from the warehouse who could not have been more helpful. When we come to construct the last two garden raised beds I will not hesitate in using your company again and I will certainly recommend you when/if people comment (assuming that I build them sufficiently well!). Once again, thank you so much.

Our bench was delivered this morning and we are delighted with our purchase
Family time

The order for a Bradbourne picnic table was placed on our web site and then Edward added a Denby Trail garden set by phone a couple of days later.
Edward had requested a parasol hole in the Denby Table but was concerned if it only had a hole in the table top would the leg cross brace not need a hole as well. Rob in our production team phoned Edward back to clarify that we did put a hole in the leg brace, so all was well. We also made sure that the hole size was big enough for the parasol to fit though as we can make the hole size to order.
We think the photographs Edward sent in are fantastic and it made our day in production to see such happy customers.

Finally got the picnic table together when my son was able to come and join his brother (2 strong lads) to do the assembly a week ago. You said it was heavy but I hadn’t thought it would be so heavy, certainly I couldn’t have managed it. There is no likelihood of the tables ever blowing away. I am attaching photos of the dining set and picnic table in the garden and one of the inaugural celebration party in which everyone, my sons, grandchildren, friend and I are showing our appreciation of a job well done. Sadly I seem to be the only one not smiling, which is a pity as I am very pleased indeed. Thank you all very much for a job well done.

The seat has arrived safely and we are very pleased with it!
We bought it in lieu of a cancelled holiday and will spend many happy hours on it eating ice creams and having cups of tea. It is so sturdy and indestructible that we expect that our grandchildren’s grandchildren will enjoy it too in the distant future!!
We have found another bonus – it doesn’t get wet (i.e. the water doesn’t soak in) so when it has rained we can just give it a wipe and it is ready to use. Also, it is warm to sit on!!

Having purchased 2 benches from you five years ago and recently purchased this table, I was a little worried that the benches would look weathered next to the new table, but you honestly can’t tell that they are any older – they haven’t aged at all. Both the table and benches are the very definition of sturdiness, they need no maintenance and I am convinced that they will never wear out. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend your company to my friends

This is to say how pleased I am with the 2 Peak benches I ordered from you in April. I have a big, mostly wild garden and am very pleased with the way they blend in. I will be interested to see how well they “weather”. It was an interesting challenge unpacking and moving them on my own, achieved with an old bakers trolley, Aldi dolly wheels and a great deal of careful moving a bit at a time. They are sited much nearer the house than originally intended.
Thank you for a most efficient service.

I thought you might like to see a photo of my purple chair, delivered today.
It’s a new garden so only just getting going! But the chair and table are a fantastic addition.

Just a note to say that the bench arrived on time and is now safely installed. I am thrilled with both the comfort of the bench and also the appearance of the inscription. It really adds to the pleasure the villagers will derive through many years from our Recreation Ground.
Many thanks to all concerned with the work and administration.

Thank you so much for very good service re the ordering and delivery of the memorial bench we recently ordered. It is now sited at St Cuthberts Church, Shustoke, and we are delighted.

Thank you so much. We are delighted with our furniture, it finishes off the garden perfectly and we will be outside so much more. Super great service from you and I have recommended you as a few neighbours now have furniture envy.
